CREATING AND ENGAGING ROLE MODELS
As teenagers are coming into their own, they are learning what it takes to be the person they want to be. At the Sioux YMCA, we work with teens in a multitude of capacities to ensure that they are engaged, inspired, and encouraged down the right path. We offer teen only programming for both girls and boys, and combine these groups as well.
INSPIRING AND EMPOWERING CHANGE
Part of engaging our teens is helping them explore other areas of the country. Through this exploration we look at different cultures, different ways of doing things, and different lifestyles. We take our teens on multiple, multi-day trips to youth conferences, on wilderness trips, and employ them as leadership staff in our camp and after school settings.
On Tuesday Nights from 7-9pm, all girls are welcome to join in at the Y facility in Dupree. Through activities like personalizing mini-pizzas, creating a book of positive affirmations, and making play-doh, we explore themes of self-esteem, positive social media habits, pro-social friendship skills, and empowerment.
Thursday night from 7-9pm is Boy's Night. It is a time where boys can let loose, have fun, and run a little crazy. Manhunt and the new favorite activity, YuGiOh, allow the boys to ask questions, work with positive male role models, and try new things in a safe, supportive environment.
At the end of the school semester, sometimes kids need a little extra help or time for their homework. The Sioux Y provides a quiet, focused learning environment. Days and times are subject to change so check the calendar of events for the most up to date information.
Started in January of 2018, teens come together on Wednesday nights from 7-9pm! Together we will explore group dynamics, positive relationships, and just have a good time being together! This co-ed evening is definitely not one to miss!
