Why Volunteer?

Volunteering means you are part of a movement:

you are a champion for building a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. You will be rewarded in ways you could never imagine.

VOLUNTEERS OF THE Y

  • Raise funds to ensure the Y is accessible to all members of the community

  • Motivate and support youth in building the character strengths, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, smart life choices, and the pursuit of higher education and goals

  • Extend a hand to partner with community organizations and create great connections

  • Advocate for the Y's effort to influence policies and initiatives that positively impact societal issues of importance to the nation, and to the community

PART OF SOMETHING LARGER THAN ANY ONE PERSON

The Sioux YMCA offers volunteer opportunities in a multitude of capacities.

SUMMER 2024 CAMP VOLUNTEERS

At Camp Marrowbone, we believe that diversity is a strength, and we invite you to be a catalyst for change, bridging cultural divides and nurturing lifelong connections. Join us in making a difference in the lives of young people, as we come together to create a brighter, more harmonious future.

Our dates for summer 2024 are as follows:

  • Wave 1 dates June 16th - July 12th

  • Wave 2 dates July 5 - August 2nd

  • Additional volunteer opportunity for clean up week August 2nd - 7th

VOLUNTEER GROUPS

We have volunteer groups come to the Y in all shapes and sizes and at all times of the year. Depending on group size, skill ability, desire, and the weather outside, groups assist in programming with the kids and work on service projects. We also incorporate a cultural component where local artists and presenters share their knowledge and stories with groups.

LONG TERM VOLUNTEERS

These special individuals are able to give their time for a longer duration. Often they arrive, receive orientation, and then can make the experience their own. LTVs in the past have written grants, started new community partnerships, participated in running our community wellness program, built a garden and so much more!

VOLUNTEER VISITS

Our volunteers aren't always with a group, or can't dedicate a huge amount of time. Sometimes they only have a few hours or days to give. Together, we clean, organize, paint, play, run around in circles, chase kids, cook and eat, and have so much fun. Whatever your time frame, come on out!

In addition to donating your time and talents to the Y as a volunteer, you can make an impact by making a financial contribution. Your donation ensures that those who need us most have access to quality programs, activities, and facilities. When you give to the Sioux Y, you make a difference.
